John has an extensive insolvency practice acting for insolvency practitioners in company receiverships, liquidations, voluntary arrangements and administrations. He advises some of the major banks in Northern Ireland in relation to enforcement procedures under various types of debentures and assists in the appointment of fixed charge receivers.
Over the past 24 months John has been involved in some high profiles administrations in Northern Ireland including that of a major retail clothing firm.
Liquor licensing is a further area of expertise and John acts for a major off-licence company in the jurisdiction. Recent high profile licensing matters include acting for objectors to the Asda supermarket on the Crumlin Road, Belfast which successfully made new law in Northern Ireland.
He also has considerable experience in joint ventures, corporate finance, acquisitions and MBOs/MBIs as well as general corporate matters.
John lectures at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies at Queens University on Insolvency Law and Company Law.
