To aid navigation the terms relating to use of this website have been divided into a number of sections: General, Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. These sections together form the Legal Notices. The Legal Notices, as amended by us from time to time, set out the basis on which you may use this website, and also provide important information about the way in which we provide our services, including details of our policy in relation to complaints, and the extent to which we may provide financial services. Please read them carefully. Nothing on this website or in the documents available through it is intended to provide legal or other professional advice. Our right to retain documents In some jurisdictions (including Northern Ireland) there are circumstances in which we will have the right to keep documents that belong to you even if you ask us to return or destroy them. In particular, this may occur if you have not paid all of our invoices.
Data protection legislation As data processors, we are bound by the requirements of data protection legislation. We will ensure that data we receive from clients or other individuals during the course of our providing legal services will be kept securely and processed solely for the purposes of the engagement. Anti-money laundering Under anti-money laundering laws, we may need formal evidence of your identity before we can act and may also conduct checks using external electronic databases for this purpose. We must also report suspicions of money laundering activity to our Money Laundering Reporting Officer or to the relevant external authorities, or both. We may have to stop work on a matter and may not be allowed to tell you if we make such a report. We will not be liable to you for the consequences of any such report made in good faith.
Financial Services Mills Selig Limited is not authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 but it is able in certain circumstances to offer a limited range of investment services to clients because it is a member of the Law Society of Northern Ireland. It can provide these investment services if they are an incidental part of the professional services it has been engaged to provide.
Client Complaints Procedure At all times, we aim to provide our clients with a professional service of the highest calibre. Should any problem arise, our approach is to be constructive; we will take every complaint seriously, we will investigate it promptly and thoroughly and will take remedial action as appropriate. If you have a complaint, you should raise it in the first instance with your relationship director or the director responsible for the relevant matter. If that is felt to be inappropriate, or if you feel that the response of the relationship director or the director responsible for the matter is inadequate, you can write to our Complaint’s Director, Bill McCann at 21 Arthur Street, Belfast BT1 4GA. We would expect to resolve any problem to your satisfaction. If we do not, you can contact the Law Society of Northern Ireland who may be able to help you to resolve your complaint.
